If you're staying with children in the Leutasch valley, the Wildsee in Seefeld is a highlight just a short drive away. This idyllic mountain lake at over 1,180 metres is one of the most beautiful excursion spots in the entire region – and pedal boating across it is one of the memories many families take home from Tyrol. From the Wilderer Chalets in Leutasch it's just ten to fifteen minutes by car.

The Wildsee – a mountain lake in the forest

The Wildsee lies nestled among pine forests on the edge of Seefeld and is probably the most picturesque lake on the whole plateau. What makes it special: it sits away from the main bustle, is surrounded by woodland on all sides and has an atmosphere that captivates both children and adults the moment they arrive. The view of the surrounding mountain ranges – Wetterstein and Karwendel – makes every visit a little panoramic experience in itself.

Pedal boating: fun for the whole family

The undisputed highlight for families is pedal boating on the Wildsee. Children love taking the pedals and steering the boat across the calm water while parents simply enjoy the peace and the mountain views. Because the lake is sheltered from the wind and very calm, even younger children have a wonderful time – there are no waves, no current. Just gently gliding across smooth water, soaking up the silence and letting the mountain backdrop sink in.

Around the lake: a walk for everyone

After the boat ride, a stroll around the Wildsee is well worth it. The circular path is short, flat and suitable for pushchairs – perfect for every member of the family, whatever their age. In summer the water shimmers turquoise through the trees, and on calm days the mountains reflect perfectly on the surface. A scene you won't forget in a hurry.

The perfect day trip from Leutasch

Seefeld is easy to reach from Leutasch. The drive through the Leutasch valley and along the valley road to Seefeld takes only about ten to fifteen minutes – yet it feels like a little journey into another world. Seefeld itself offers much more besides the lake: cafés, restaurants, a charming village centre and further activities in the surrounding mountains.

Wildsee + Wilderer Chalets: the perfect family holiday combination

Guests at the Wilderer Chalets get the Wildsee as a bonus attraction practically on their doorstep. A leisurely breakfast in the morning, then a quick drive to the lake with the kids, a pedal boat session, an ice cream – and back to the chalet in the afternoon where the private spa awaits tired legs. That's what family days in Tyrol look like – the kind you still talk about years later. For families with children, the location of the Wilderer Chalets in Leutasch is hard to beat: quiet enough to truly unwind, yet close enough to everything the region has to offer.
