Cross-country skiing in Tyrol without paying a cent for the trail pass: in the 2026/27 winter season, trail use is free for every guest of the Wilderer Chalets. The Wilderer Chalets in Leutasch are one of the partner accommodations of the Seefeld region where the cross-country ski pass is already included in the guest card. You book your chalet, and around 245 kilometres of trails on the Seefeld plateau come with it.

Trail use included: the key facts

  • Free for our guests: the Seefeld region trail pass is included with every booking at the Wilderer Chalets, for the whole 2026/27 winter season.
  • 245 km of trails: classic and skating, groomed daily, across Seefeld, Leutasch, Mösern/Buchen, Reith and Scharnitz.
  • Buses included: with the guest card (PlateauCard) all regional buses on the plateau are free as well.
  • Children up to their 15th birthday ski for free in the Seefeld region anyway.
  • Season start: the snowfarming trail in Leutasch is due to open on 13 November 2026, temperature and ground permitting.
  • Not transferable: trail use is only for guests staying with us. The terms of the Seefeld region apply.

How much you save with the free trail pass

Outside the partner accommodations, the trails in the Seefeld region cost money, even for guests with a guest card. Official prices from the tourist board for winter 2026/27, per person:

  • Day ticket: €11 with guest card, €15 without
  • Multi-day ticket up to 7 days: €31 with guest card, €66 without
  • Multi-day ticket up to 21 days: €47 with guest card
  • For Wilderer Chalets guests: €0

An example: four adults skiing for a week would otherwise pay 4 × €31 = €124 for the trails alone. With us, they pay nothing. And since the trails may not be used without a valid ticket and are checked regularly (the penalty fee is €190), you also skip the queue at the ticket machine.

The nearest trails to the Wilderer Chalets

The chalets are in Leutasch-Weidach at 1,136 m. The Nordic centre at the Alpenbad Leutasch is under 2 km away, a few minutes by car. Without a car, take regional bus 430 to the stop “Weidach Alpenbad/Brücke”, free with the guest card. Several easy trails start here, perfect for your first day:

A2 Snowfarming trail Leutasch – 2.8 km, easy

The first trail of the winter. Leutasch stores snow from the previous winter and spreads it in autumn, so skiing starts here from mid-November. The loop begins at the Ganghoferbogen next to the football pitch in Weidach and follows the Leutascher Ache river to the Aumoos Alm. 4 m wide, with snowmaking, for classic and skating. More on the season start in Leutasch.

A10 Weidach – 1.7 km, easy

The short, flat loop across the village meadow in Weidach. Perfect for beginners, for children and for warming up on arrival day.

A6 Alpenbad – 3.2 km, easy

Starts at the Alpenbad and is barrier-free. If the A10 left you wanting more, simply add this loop.

A5 Obern – 3.4 km, easy

A quiet, barrier-free loop in Oberleutasch, with views of the Wetterstein wall and the Hohe Munde.

A9 Unterleutasch – 12.2 km, easy

The long, sunny valley trail for those who like to cruise. Hardly any climbing, plenty of distance, ideal for a full day of cross-country skiing in the Leutasch valley.

Our suggested loops

  • Beginner loop (approx. 1.7 km): A10 Weidach. Practise your technique first, Kaiserschmarrn afterwards.
  • Easy-going loop (approx. 4.5 km): A2 snowfarming trail plus A10 Weidach, both flat and right by the Alpenbad.
  • Half-day tour (approx. 7–8 km): A10 Weidach, A6 Alpenbad and the A2 snowfarming trail one after another. Enough kilometres for a clear conscience by the fire.
  • Long day (12.2 km): A9 Unterleutasch, the longest easy trail in the valley.
  • Evening loop: the floodlit night trail A1 in Seefeld, Monday to Friday from 5 pm to 8:30 pm. The region sells a separate night trail ticket (€9) at the machines at the entrance.

Which trails are currently groomed is shown in the Seefeld region trail report. The trails are open daily from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

Cross-country skiing in the Seefeld region: Olympic trails on your doorstep

The Seefeld region is one of the best-known cross-country skiing areas in the Alps. It hosted the Nordic events of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics, and Seefeld staged the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 and 2019. The trails link all five villages on the plateau at around 1,000 to 1,400 metres and are groomed extra wide for classic and skating. Leutasch also has the Ganghoferlauf, one of the oldest popular ski races in Austria.

You can rent cross-country skis or book a lesson at the Skischule Leutasch in the Nordic centre at the Alpenbad and at Sport Norz in Weidach, both just a few minutes from the chalets.

After the trail: back to the chalet

Skis in the ski room, boots on the dryer, fire in the fireplace. Each of our three chalets has 155 m², four bedrooms and space for up to nine guests. Chalet Steinadler also has its own outdoor sauna, the best reward after 15 km on the trails. Rothirsch and Gamsbock have a fenced garden too, handy if the dog comes along. Dogs are not allowed on the trails, by the way, but the region has a dedicated dog trail.
